4/24/2023 0 Comments Adobe audition de esser![]() I try not to let my hatred of my own voice affect me a whole lot. ![]() For regular participants I have a Nectar 3 preset that makes their voice sound good. I use RX7 Advanced to surgically remove noise if necessary. Then, when the final mixdown is ready for export, I run through another loudness normalization pass (again to -16 LUFS) to make sure I'm about at the same volume level as other podcasts (this is not a formal standard, but still one that seems to be adopted by many). Since I do multichannel recordings (channel per participant) I first do one pass of loudness normalization to -16 LUFS for each audio file individually. I used to use normalize and a limiter too, but for multi-participant episodes I now use the loudness normalization feature in Audition. Gentle noise reduction again, if needed (compression will increase ambient noise level).Limiting should come last, and you want the levels going into it to be balanced (not too many high or low sounds) and dynamically fairly even. Noise reduction should happen earlier, but also IME should be applied when your audio is at the roughly final volume level (so therefore after gain/normalization). Usually you want de-essing very early on, but if you do EQ into compression you will get more sibilance and therefore should often use a second de-esser. For instance, EQ before compression sounds a little different from compression before EQ. It's most important to understand how these processes relate to each other. It's good to have something to start with, but every recording is a little bit different and can have different needs.
